Investment Casting Process


Aerotec Alloys uses the latest CAD/CAM system for tool manufacturing.  In addition to importing electronic data directly from client files through IGES or dedicated converters with no loss of accuracy, the CAD/CAM system handles part visualization which dramatically decreases the time needed to manufacture, such as inspection fixtures, straightening dies, heat treat fixtures, pressure-test fixtures, and machining fixtures if the casting design warrants them.
Wax Mold Patterns Hot wax is injected into aluminum dies to form wax patterns.  These patterns are then affixed to runners with the application of heat which bonds the two together.  These runners allow the molten metal to enter the wax pattern cavity and tree.
Ceramic Coating When the tree is completed, it goes through a dipping process to build up a ceramic coat around the wax patterns.  This is called a shell.
Autoclave The shell is then inverted into an autoclave in order to remove the wax pattern and runners prior to pouring the molten metal into the shell.
Blue Print Required Measurements The ceramic shell is removed from the solidified tree by high pressure water and the castings are removed from their runners by saw.  Finishing and straightening of the casting are performed according to Blue Print requirements.  Aerotec Alloys has developed compression machines in order to straighten each part.
Part Testing To manufacture castings with superior reliability and consistency, Aerotec Alloys relies on sophisticated process controls and quality assurance methods, ranging from thermal analysis, emission spectroscopy, and complete metallurgical and mechanical testing to CAD-driven tool making and inspection equipment, programmable process controllers, and NDT Laboratory facilities.

Cast wall/web thickness as thin as .015 inch in isolated areas.

Tolerances

Dimensions of +/- .005” for the first inch plus +/- .003” for every inch after that. Flatness to +/- .002” per inch. Tolerance Chart.

125 RMS or better

Configurations

Complex cast configurations with undercuts, cast in holes and or passages. Ability to cast steel tubes in non-ferrous alloys. No draft required. Unlimited configuration design with 3D-Printed wax patters.

Custom Art Processing

Various artists bring their molds or their own wax patterns for us to process for them. We will preheat their molds and pour their desired alloy. Once poured and air cooled, we go through the shell removal process, gate removal, and grinding operations to the artists requests. We have partnered with various artists and art foundries to assist bringing their ideas and dreams to life.

Conflict Materials
Policy Statement

Aerotec Alloys Inc. is committed to ethical business conduct and the responsible sourcing of minerals through our supply chain. In 2012, the Securities and Exchange commision (SEC) issued final rules implementing the Conflict Minerals disclosure provisions of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. Under these rules, our publicly traded Customers must report annually on their use of conflict materials (tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold) from the Democratic Republic of Congo ("DRC") or certain adjoining countries.

We are working diligently with our customers and supply chain to ensure compliance with SEC regulations. The supply chain for these minerals is complex and tracing of them is challenging.

Aerotec Alloys Inc. is focusing our compliance efforts in the following areas:

Tracing Conflict Minerals: Aerotec Alloys Inc will conduct a reasonable country of origin inquiry with our supply base as part of our due diligence process, using a coordinated, risk based appoach. As part of this process, it is our intention to collect and evaluate supplier response to an industry-established conflict minerals reporting template.

Reporting Results: We will engage, as appropriate, independent auditors to conduct an audit of Aerotec Alloys Inc. conflict minerals approach and processes.
